Experience Tribal Life

Tribal Life Ecolodge is community-operated and benefits the entire Hamer village community economically. Every person, from our lodge tour guides and cooks to the drivers and support staff, is a Hamer local. The best part is that your hosts are eager to share the culture with you as well as the iconic tribes that inhabit the Omo Valley and have persevered for ages. 4.5/5
Our time spent at the Tribal Life Hamer lodge, where we got to know Wado, Miley, and Regan—albeit only briefly—while living as locals in a tribal community, is filled with wonderful memories for us. Our close interaction with the Hamer people was the highlight of our trip; they were incredibly friendly and made us feel like guests rather than visitors. The extent of our passion for Africa as a whole is beyond words. It seemed to us like home away from home. We shall always hold special memories of our time spent at Tribal Life. I wish you all the very best!

We had the time of our lives during our stay at Tribal Life Ecolodge—it was a dream come true. We were greeted with such warmth and gratitude by the local people, from whom we learned so much. Ayke, our tour guide, looked after us well and told us a lot about the culture of the area. The lodge is stunning in and of itself, the food was fresh and creative and the staff was incredibly helpful and nice. I would advise everyone to take this vacation. We are grateful for the wonderful experience we had at Tribal Life Ecolodge.
